OH MY GOODNESS!

I'm slightly freaking out right now. Why?
Well....
I START SCHOOL TOMORROW!
Yeah, that's right.
I finally start school tomorrow and I am feeling all kinds of emotions right now.
I am happy, nervous, scared, excited, worried, ect.
Before I get into more details about tomorrow and all that,
let me tel you about how my orientation went a couple weeks ago!

I know I said that I was going to post the weekend after my orientation,
but as you can see, that didn't happen.
I was sick the whole week of my orientation with a double ear infection and a sinus infection.
I was absolutely miserable.
However, I still went to my orientation.
They were all super nice about me not feeling well and told me that if I needed to leave, I was more then welcome to do so.
I met a few people that will be in my classes and they were all really nice.
I learn a lot of information about the school and everything that will be happening the next 18 months.
After the orientation, I was even more excited about starting classes.
(Which I didn't think was possible. Haha.)

Now on to tomorrow...
I have two classes tomorrow.
I will be in class from 9:40 until about 4:20.
I am so so excited and I cannot wait to start this journey.

I will definitely have to write again, hopefully tomorrow, and let you know how things went.

Until then, wish me luck!
It's time to make my dreams come true!

It's getting so close!

I am so excited! My culinary school adventure starts in just 21 days.
TWENTY ONE DAYS!!
I am so so excited.
Like, I can't believe it is happening so soon.
These last few weeks have flown by and I am hoping the next few fly by as well.

I am so ready to start my classes and to begin this journey.
I know that my grandma is looking down on me and she is so happy and proud of me.
I cannot wait to make her and the rest of my family proud of me.
I cannot wait to see what life has in store for me.

This Friday, I go for my orientation.
I will be getting my uniform, my knife set, my books, as well as cooking for the first time with my classmates.
I'm kind of nervous but so excited.

I will be posting an update of what happened at my orientation this weekend.

Well, here's my story.

Hey you guys. As you could see in my about me section on my blog, I'm Devin! I am a soon to be Pastry Arts student and I couldn't be more excited. I figured the best first post for this new blog would be a little background on what made me want to become a pastry chef, so here goes. (P.S. I'm telling you the short version because the long version could literally be a book haha)

I remember back when I was a little girl, I used to always tell my mom that I was going to be a baker one day. Yes, I told her I was going to be a "baker". Haha. I loved it. I loved going to local cupcake shops, watch all the cooking shows, and bake with my grandmother. Baking with my grandmother was one of my most favorite things to do. She taught me so many things. Going over to grandmas house to bake some cookies or a cake... That was my perfect Saturday.

All through middle school and high school, I dreamed of becoming a chef. I took culinary arts in High School. It was what I needed to do. But for some reason, it's not what I did when it was time for me to go to college. Why? I have no idea. I guess I was in some kind of denial that this is what I REALLY wanted to do. I guess it also had something to do with multiple people telling me that I needed to pick a career that I would actually get somewhere in life doing. (Whatever that means..)

I went to college and ended up getting an Associates in Business Administration. I struggled for so long trying to find a job that would allow me to settle down and be out on my own. However, this was and still is nearly impossible.

Then, tragedy struck my family. Back in November 2014, I lost my grandmother to a long battle of breast cancer. I lost my best friend. I lost my baking partner. I lost one of the most important people in my life. It affected me so much. I knew then that it was time to make my dream become a reality. It was time to go make my grandmother proud.

Here it is June 2015, and my dream is coming true. In August I am starting culinary school to become a pastry chef. I am one step closer to having the career I have always dreamed of. And to make things even better, I get to do it with one of the best people in the world watching over me.

I am more than excited to begin this journey and I am thrilled to be able to share it with you.
